The place for this conference was specifically selected as a Regional Asian site. The approximately 60 Movers in attendance were therefore predominantly from Asian countries. Since our interest has always been to maintain and grow our Asian network of agents, the conference was all the more attractive to E.T.S.A. and it was therefore decided that Woody Zobel would attend.
The conference began on a charitable note. The IMC staff and organizers of the conference requested and received contributions from the delegates which made it possible to build a badly needed complete children’s playground at a nearby school. The school in turn honored the delegates with a wonderful showing of appreciation by various Thai folklore groups as well as speeches by the local political representatives.
A plaque was installed in the honor of the IMC 2016 to commemorate the occasion. The biggest reward however was seeing the happy smiling faces of the children as they took possession of the slides, climbing bars and other playground equipment.
A highlight of the actual conference program was certainly the individual person to person meetings. The system reminded one of “Speed Dating” as seen in the media. Each delegate had access to the attendee list in the internet and by simply clicking onto a delegates name, could reserve a 1/2 hour meeting at a time convenient for both from 09.30 to 12.00 and 13.00 to 16.30 at a pre-numbered table for two in the large meeting room. Our own Woody Zobel was virtually booked out for three days. The meetings of 30 minute duration offered enough time to introduce the agencies to each other and to wake interest in deepening the business relationships.
The Thai folklore shows in the evening as well as the excellent variety of Thai food at breakfast, lunch and dinner contributed to making this a very professionally organized an extremely successful conference. Our thanks go out to the staff of IMC for a memorable conference.
